Part of the vast, interconnected caves beneath Castle Hill, Hospital in the Rock Nuclear Bunker Museum served as a nuclear bunker and emergency hospital during 20th-century wartime. During World War II, the 10 km (6 mi) of caves and cellars in this region were connected and used as a bomb shelter. You can visit the hospital portion, where doctors treated civilians and soldiers until July 1945, then again during the 1956 Revolution. Take a guided tour of the hospital, learn more about Hungarian history from 1938 up through the Cold War, and witness the difficult conditions under which doctors and nurses worked in these caves.     Amazing museum with lifelike wax figures and detail recreations of the museum's hospital days. You'll have to go on a guided tour which leaves hourly (more frequent during summer) but the guides are friendly and informative. Tours are in English and Hungarian but audio guides of different languages are available.

    A English speaking guided tour happens every half an hour. There are translated guides available for others. Fascinating tour that takes about an hour. Cost about 8000fr for 2 of us (about a tenner). You go underground around the hospital and then the top secret nuclear bunker! Well worth it
