Explore one of the largest collections of Belarusian and foreign art at The National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus. Opened in 1939, the museum moved to its present two-story building with 10 spacious halls in 1957. It houses over 27,000 works of art. When you visit, leave your bags in the cloakroom downstairs and get an audio guide at the museum shop. As you wander the museum, notice the portraits of grand dukes and their families. You'll see heroic revolutionary art, including evocative pictures of Minsk, which was devastated by bombing. The museum also features a vast collection of modern art, as well as Asian art from the 14th-20th centuries. Amenities include a cafe and a shop selling postcards, books, and other souvenirs. • This is an impressive museum. In addition to some Russian masters (Repin, Levitan, and Vrubel) it also houses a wide range of Belarusian art, including the Partisan Madonna of Minsk by Savitsky...  more »

  • I love this place. A very good collection of the Russian painting of XVII-the beginning of XX centures. And, of course, the best collection of the Belarusian art, painting, sculpture and some beautiful things of Christian art of Belarus of former centuries.
  • Not the greatest art museum in the world but still interesting for getting a good overview of Belarusian art history and has also quite a few works from famous painters. Temporary exhibitions can be very good, too.
