Lake Narach, Minsk Region

#3 of 14 in Nature in Belarus
Lake Narach is a lake in north-western Belarus (Myadzyel Raion, Minsk Region), located in the basin of the Viliya river. It is the largest lake in Belarus (in 1921–39 it was the largest lake of Poland).Narach is a part of the Narach lake group (the others being Miastra (Мястра), Batoryn (Баторын), Blednaje (Бледнае)). It was formed about 11 thousand years ago after the Pleistocene ice ages. It has a surface area of 79.6 km2, a wider length of 12.8 km, a maximum depth of 24.8 m, average depth of 8.9 m, a volume of 710 million cubic meters. The lake is surrounded with pine forests. The Narach River flows out of it.Narach is an abode of 22 genera of fish, as the eel, pike, burbot, etc. The shore and islets are nested by different birds, as the mute swan, fish hawk, tarrock, dabchick.HistoryPeople settled near the lake about 10 thousand years ago. Linguists think that its name is probably from the Indo-European root *nar- often found in names of bodies of water (e.g., the Nara and Neris rivers). Archaeologists have excavated many burial mounds of the Baltic and Slavic people that lived around Narach.

  • If you are lucky with the weather-a wonderful place. Suitable for both walking and bathing. We bathed nearby, on Lake White. The water is very warm as the lake is not very deep. The kids are thrilled. Water is saturated with natural minerals. Skin after her like velvet! So it is not only nice, but also very useful. There are many wild birds on Naroch lake. You can meet a family of swans, for example. Very interesting. I advise everyone to visit at least once in their lives.

  • Quiet, clean, cozy place. Very nicely. The total lack of service. On the coast within a radius of 10-30 km, no decent catering establishments. Visited picerYju in the town of Myadel, from service were aghast. Ordered a pizza. It brought the baby, taking a slice of pizza I wanted to bite off:)) heard "Oh! It's not your "ran up the waitress. The child put a piece on a plate, she hand! (it is not known where or what chesavshej) pushed the piece to shape:))) grabbed a plate and put a couple seated at a nearby table.

  • A truly unique gem of nature. You must walk at least a hundred meters to be able to swim comfortably without feeling the plants beneath you. Although the lake is huge, there is not a single dedicated parking space near a reasonably cleaned beach for arriving tourists to take a dip. Somewhat disappointing.
  • The most beautiful lake, clean water. There are 9 sanatoriums around the lake. There is a car camping. In the resort village "Naroch" there is a large European wholesale, several cafes, bowling, there is not a large cinema. There is also a large number of hiking trails, bicycle rental. In sanatoriums there is also a sports equipment rental. It is possible to take a yacht, a boat, a catamaran. Horseback riding and quad biking can be arranged. In Priozerny sanatorium there are tennis courts and racket rental. Also in the prize-winner is not a big water park with a children's zone. In the sanatorium Belaya Rus has a large swimming pool.
